How did it all begin?
In 1994, out of desperation and frustration, FLAVORx was founded by a pharmacist and son team in the DC area. The battle of medicating the son’s epileptic daughter wore down the family. After endless late, long tiring nights in the pharmacy, the intelligent duo came up with the idea of adding a new flavor to the awful tasting medicine that they wished and hoped for hiding the yucky taste of the epilepsy medicine. With fingers crossed and while holding their breath, as the father looked on, the pharmacist’s son, with the newly flavored medicine in a syringe and hand, approached his daughter. With great pleasure and ease, the young daughter, without any issues, took that one initial dose and ceased to struggle and fight to take the proper doses of medicine.
Being eager to share the wonderful discovery and knowing they were not alone with the medicine struggle they personally faced, the father and son came up with a short list of flavors to come up with a solid medication flavoring system and was able to market the system beginning with local pharmacies. FLAVORx became an almost instant hit that within just a short few months, pharmacies nationwide began to knock on the father and son’s door.
